At the close of 2014, Ted retired as the Associate District Judge of LeFlore County, Oklahoma after 32 years on the bench.
During his bench career, he presided over hundreds of cases including, among others, divorces; child custody and visitation matters; probates; guardianships; and all sorts of civil matters, both jury and nonjury trials.
He is a fourth generation resident of southeastern Oklahoma. He is married and he and his wife Sharon have two children and three grandchildren.

Types of Adoption
There are a wide variety of adoption types that suit many different needs, including:
Domestic Adoptions
In a domestic adoption, a family from the United States adopts a baby that is born in the United States. There are many different types of domestic adoption, including closed and open adoptions, and the laws for each vary from state to state.
International Adoptions
In an international adoption, a family from the United States adopts a baby from another country. An international adoption can be extraordinarily complicated, since foreign laws often dictate much of how the adoption can take place.
Private Adoptions
Private adoptions involve the adoption of a child from one family to another, without the need for a third party to take custody of the child in the interim. Although private adoptions can seem simpler at first without the need for an intervening party, protecting your rights as either the birth parent or the adoptive parent in this type of adoption is critical.
Agency Adoptions
An agency adoption involves an agency to oversee the adoption process. Closed adoptions are the most common form of agency adoption, where neither the adoptive parent nor the birth parent know each other or have contact with each other.
Second Parent Adoptions
In cases where a child’s parent is involved in a relationship with a person who is not biologically related to the child, and that person wishes to adopt the child, a second parent adoption would need to take place. Legally establishing the rights of a stepparent to a child can help create a stable environment and future for the child.
Contested Adoptions
In a contested adoption, the biological parent’s rights to the child may be terminated, and a third party may adopt the child, such as a grandparent. In these cases, the child’s biological parent may contest the removal of their rights and/or the adoption of the child to the third party. Contested adoptions can become difficult, and require the expertise of a seasoned adoption lawyer from the start.
